Library
The Saint Francis de Sales School Library currently holds over 6,000 items in its automated catalog and circulation system. We also have an extensive selection of Accelerated Reader books. Multimedia resources available in the library include: individual computer stations for research, a DVD/VCR system and a large, flat screen television.
There are many ways for parents to become involved and support the library during the school year. Opportunities vary from volunteering at the annual Book Fair, to joining the Parent/Child Book Club, to reading stories to the younger students in the “Reader’s Theater”. The library is staffed with our full-time librarian and is open during school hours. Each grade comes in as a class once a week.
The Library is open daily during recess and lunch and is open after school Monday-Friday until 3:30.

K- 4 Readers Club
Kindergarten – 4th grade
The SFDS Reader’s Club encourages your child to read at home. It can be done with your child reading aloud to you, or both of you taking turns reading aloud, or silent reading. Student efforts will be acknowledged in the Daily News and each participating student will receive a small gift monthly.
Reading logs will be available monthly on this site and should be sent back to the classroom, Attention: Library at the end of the month. Please include the Book Title, Author, Pages Read and Parent Signature. Be sure your child’s name and grade are written legibly.
We are always looking for prize donations, such as bookmarks, stickers, pencils or small denominations of ice cream or book store scrip. All donations should be sent to the Library. Feel free to call 818-784-4112 with any questions.
Check Out Limits Per Grade Level
Kindergarten-1st grade: with parents present only
2nd grade: 2 items per student
3rd grade: up to 3 items per student
4th-8th grade: up to 4 items per student
Items may be checked out for 2 weeks and renewed, if there is not a hold on the book
Fines: 10 cents per school day

Book Registry
We are making wholesale priced books available for donation to the school library through the monthly Book Registry. We offer a variety to choose from: critically acclaimed fiction, non-fiction, as well as those current releases frequently requested by students. Book donations are commemorated in the book itself, making a book donation a great way to remember a special event. Please contact Mrs Gleason at agleason@stfrancisds.org for a recommendation list.
